New Provincial Team Selection Criteria

Based on the recommendations of the new Coaches Committee, the Saskatchewan Racquetball Association is updating its team selection process. The following guidelines were the result of much thought and deliberation, as the coaches believe they will help improve the selection process and accomplish our goals of improving the level of play in Saskatchewan, supporting our elite athletes, placing athletes on National Teams and winning national titles.

Junior Selection Criteria

All juniors who wish to be considered for the Junior Provincial Team must meet the following eligibility requirements:

Be involved in a training schedule approved by a coach.
Compete in at least 3 of the junior series tournaments.
Compete in their appropriate division at Provincials.
Represent Saskatchewan at the Junior National Championships.

The following criteria will used to select the Junior Provincial Team:

All players who win their age division at Provincials will be placed on the provincial team.
All current members of the Junior National Team will be guaranteed a spot on the provincial team.

The coaches committee will select up to eight (8) athletes who meet the above eligibility requirements for the provincial team based on their training schedule, results at provincials and their ability to assist the Saskatchewan Team at the Junior National Championships.

The team selection criteria are in the process of changing, but the new system will be similar to Racquetball Canada’s National Team Selection Process. In selecting the team, results from the Selection Events and Saskatchewan’s Provincial Championship will be considered.
